"Groups" or "Areas"  are the third level down in brain organization.  This term 
refers to large collections  of neurons.  Groups are collections of Nuclei,
(clusters of neurons in a circumscribed space) and Areas are uncircumscribed
collections of neurons in which the neuronal sizes, packing density or other
local features provides contrast with the surrounding tissue.
